Okay, let's just talk about Crisis Core alone.
Zack fought Sephiroth, lost, AND got whacked all over in places yeah.
Cloud managed to use Zack's gosh heavy Buster Sword to STAB SEPHIROTH WHEN ZACK COULDN'T EVEN DO IT.
He got STABBED THROUGH THE CHEST, WAAAY MORE INJURED THAN ZACK, but could STILL someone manage to lift Sephiroth up BY HOLDING ONTO THE SWORD STILL EMBEDDED IN HIM NO LESS OMGOSH AND THROW HIM INTO THE LIFESTREAM BY GOSH.
Super-Cloud.
He accomplished waay more than Zack did.
And he defeated Sephiroth 2 more times in different continuations.
Note that at Crisis Core's point, he's just a normal INFANTRYMAN. Zack is a FIRST CLASS SOLDIER.

I mean so WHAT if Cloud suffered Mako poisoning when Zack didn't, and required Zack's help to escape and all?
Since Zack as a SOLDIER is already MAKO ENHANCED AND ALL, so if he got Mako poisoning I'd laugh.
And even though he died protecting Cloud we should be proud because he did it willingly and died with his SOLDIER pride and honor. -sniff-
